3 Reasons Your Business Should Have a Blog

Reasons a business needs a blog

Does your business have a blog?

Do you think blogs are a waste of time?

Well, I am here to tell you otherwise. There are 3 main reasons I can think of. Read below to see why we feel there is no excuse to not have a blog.

The 3 main reasons:

1. They are Cheap to Setup – You just need sign up for a domain name and hosting account. We only use Host Gator. Once you have the hosting account go to Fiverr and have someone setup the blog on your new hosting account for just $5! Go back to Fiverr and buy a good logo if you need one, just $5 again. So from scratch, a blog only costs about $30 to setup! All you need now is content.

2. Good Article Writers are Also Cheap – Even if you don’t have the time to write content for your blog, you can use sites like odesk.com or fiverr.com to find content writers. Once you hire writers you just have to give them access as a writer on your blogging platform. You can find writers on Odesk that will write great articles for about $8-$10 an hour. On average they write 2-3 articles an hour. Odesk makes them clock in on their computer when working and takes a screenshot of their computer to prove to you they are working. So now you have a blog created about $30 and content being created for about $20-$30 a month. That would be about 2 posts per week. The search engines will fall in love with your blog and website nearly overnight.

3. SEO Benefits and More Traffic – You post an article to your blog with target keywords as anchor text linking back to pages of your site. Now you go to the social networks and post links to the blog post. Google and other search engine robots now travel these links and end up giving the final destination what we call “link juice”. Result: Better search engine rankings for your target keywords which equals more ways for potential customers to find you.

Do You Like Word Of Mouth Advertising?

Of course you do, everyone loves word of mouth advertisements. That should mean your business is using social media. Social media is the ultimate in word of mouth advertising.

Think about these 2 different scenarios…

In the first scenario, you complete some work or make a sale to Susan, who now loves your company. Susan goes back to living life as usual. One day a friend is talking about something they need and Susan suggests your company to fulfill this need. Great! More business! Now you can only wait and hope this streak continues, or you can always ask for more referrals from current customers.

In scenario two, you call Morgantown Marketing after seeing something about us on Facebook. You are wanting more people to learn about your business, and possibly even generate some new sales. You are wanting a social media strategy and a way to cut through all the noise, and most importantly, your competition. We set you up with all the bells and whistles. We start developing your presence and getting fans and followers to engage and talk about your company.

Susan from scenario one comes back for more… She sees your “Now on Facebook” sign, and eagerly asks for more. When she gets out to her car she “likes” your fan page with her smartphone. When she gets home she posts about her love of your company and a picture of your product. All of her friends and family on Facebook see these announcements when they log in. 4 people “like” the status update and 2 people comment on the post. One tells her he want’s one… The other tells Susan how good it looks. Let’s do some math… The average Facebook user has 130 friends. From this one post by Susan, give or take, 910 people have the chance of seeing it. Now that is real word of mouth advertising power.
